A Documentary on Cattle & their Role in Fighting Waste
Reduce, Reuse, Ruminate is a short documentary that highlights the amazing upcycling ability of cattle and their important role in diverting food loss and waste.
Reduce, Reuse, Ruminate
In Canada, 58% of the food we produce is wasted. In the never-ending fight against food waste, there’s an unexpected hero – the humble beef cow.
Beef farmers and ranchers help transform the environmental problem of food loss and waste by feeding their cattle damaged crops and crop by-products not suitable for human consumption – canola meal, soybean hulls, or wheat chaff – upcycling it into high-quality protein for humans.
‘Food waste accounts for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions.’
‘Emissions from municipal landfills represent the 2nd largest source of methane, after fossil fuels.’
