In Canada, 58% of the food we produce is wasted. In the never-ending fight against food waste, there’s an unexpected hero – the humble beef cow.

Beef farmers and ranchers help transform the environmental problem of food loss and waste by feeding their cattle damaged crops and crop by-products not suitable for human consumption – canola meal, soybean hulls, or wheat chaff – upcycling it into high-quality protein for humans.

‘Food waste accounts for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions.’

‘Emissions from municipal landfills represent the 2nd largest source of methane, after fossil fuels.’

About Canadian Cattle Association:

The Canadian Cattle Association (CCA) is the national voice of Canada’s 60,000 beef farms and feedlots. Founded by producers and led by a producer-elected board, CCA works to address issues that concern Canada’s beef producers. The Public and Stakeholder division works to build trust in the way beef cattle are raised in Canada.
